Capital Markets Analyst – Independence Point Advisors (IPA)

Position Summary
IPA is seeking an Analyst to support our Capital Markets team in client coverage, deal execution, trade operations, and internship program management. We are looking for a highly energetic, intellectually curious, flexible team player who is willing to wear many hats as we grow our business. In return, this individual will work closely with senior leaders and gain broad exposure to capital markets and corporate finance. We believe diversity comes in many forms including geographic diversity. This individual will work from the greater Salt Lake City area on a hybrid basis directly with the Partner of Capital Markets at IPA with intermittent travel to New York City.

Responsibilities
Spend ~60% of time assisting capital markets team in the execution of day-to-day functions
Support senior leaders on client coverage through preparing client presentations, briefings, and market updates as well as participating in internal and client meetings
Participate in live transactions ultimately growing into trading booking and settlements
Perform ad hoc projects and analyses as required
Spend ~40% of time supporting the planning and execution of IPA’s undergraduate internship programming
Coordinate logistics for internship programs, case competitions, and educational outreach
Lead student recruitment, partner engagement, content development, and program coordination
Collect, synthesize, and analyze data to track program outcomes and continually optimize performance
Learning Opportunities
Develop and apply comprehensive knowledge of the financial markets and utilize corporate finance advisory skills to advise issuers on optimal financing and refinancing opportunities
Prepare financial analyses and modeling to assess overall client, industry, and market trends
Conduct economic and financial research to support creation of independent thought pieces
Work across a variety of products, including unsecured debt, ABS, equity, preferred stock, and private placements
Who Should Apply & Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with understanding and interest in finance and accounting (finance or accounting majors NOT required)
0-1 years of full-time relevant work experience
Must be currently based in the Salt Lake City area
Strong MS Office skills, including Excel and PowerPoint with proficiency in Bloomberg or programming as a plus
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Candidates who are resourceful and have a natural curiosity for how things work, a tenacious attitude towards research, and the ability to think independently
Thoughtful approach to improving processes utilizing automation, programming, and AI
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment
Ability to work through multiple tasks in a rapidly changing environment to meet deadlines
Upon acceptance of an offer, the candidate must successfully complete the Series 79, Series 7, Series 63, and SIE exams prior to onboarding
Anticipated salary $60,000–$80,000, commensurate with experience.
