The New York City Council, an equal opportunity employer, is seeking to fill a Policy Analyst position in the Human Services Unit in the Legislative Division.

SALARY RANGE:

$67,000 to $72,000

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with Legislative Attorneys and Policy Analysts to analyze legal and policy issues.
  • Conduct policy research and analysis, managing relationships with stakeholders.
  • Assist in the preparation of committee hearings.
  • Draft committee and oversight reports.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Policy experience in areas related to topics covered by one or more of the following committees: Aging; Children and Youth; Civil Service & Labor; Cultural Affairs, Libraries, and International Intergroup Relations; Education; General Welfare; Health; Higher Education; Hospitals; Mental Health, Disabilities and Addiction; Veterans; and Women and Gender Equity.
  • Graduate degree preferred.
  • Superior writing, research and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and organizational abilities.
  • Must be hard working, creative, enthusiastic, and a team player.
  • Familiarity with New York City government.
  • Prior work experience in government or the non-profit sector is a plus.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

New York City residency required within 90 days of appointment.
