My name is Lynette Waller, and I am the Assistant Superintendent at the Wyomissing Area School District. So as the Assistant Superintendent, I work closely with the District Superintendent to primarily oversee instructional operations as far as the curriculum. I also supervise the other district administrators, and I support with all areas of operations as far as facilities management, instructional technology, finances. So I'm available to support the district and also I would lead up on new initiatives. I work closely with the district staff, along with parents and our school board. One new initiative that we're focusing on is implementing a STEAM program. So STEAM is a fairly, it's something that's a hot topic in education. We're implementing one to one technology, so all of our students, K to 12, would have their own device to use. Right now we're using iPads. At the same time, we're implementing a STEM initiative, where we're creating maker spaces in our buildings where our students would be introduced to design methodology and innovation. They would have experiences starting at kindergarten all the way up to high school. I go in in the morning, and I'm normally at the school around 7:15, 7:30. A lot of that starts off with just being in the office and getting a sense of any new emails or anything that may have come in over the evening, and just staying on top of that. Then it just depends. Some days it's a Board meeting first thing in the morning. It could be meeting with teachers, maybe participating in a faculty meeting or planning out a professional development session. Then it's getting around to our buildings, interacting with our principals, making sure that they have all of the necessary materials or resources or instructional focus for whatever they are focusing on that day. So I get around to a lot of the schools, and then sometimes it's being available if a parent has a need or if there's a situation with a student. I may have to support that, maybe meet with the family. Sometimes it's going out into the community and maybe going to a borough meeting or just working with some of our community partners. Every day is a little bit different. Even when you have a schedule, you kind of don't. So you just have to be extremely flexible and fluid in everything that's happening and just responsive.
