>> Batch 8560: My name is Don Macklemore and I am Director of Industry Relations and Economic Development at Georgia Southern University. It could be anything from a contact with potential industry partner who's looking for resources to help support their growth patterns or innovations resources to engaging with a local economic development agency somewhere in the, across the state of Georgia particularly in the coastal region of Georgia working with grad students and conduct of research, working with faculty and helping them find research opportunities, so it's a pretty broad spectrum. Busy day might start in Savannah with an innovative enterprise speaking with, you know, their leadership about what their needs are, it might move from there to a classroom and doing a lecture on what it means to be in the chemical industry and, you know, what are the aspects, what's the marriage of science and technology with business to holding a meeting with campus leadership on intellectual property matters. Now let's see how would I end a day like that? I might end a day like that with a phone call from a startup company that's struggling with some science and engineering issues and then, you know, maybe ending the day working on a proposal with one of our corporate partners to make sure that we've got things moving at momentum. No, it's not a 9 to 5 and so, yeah the priorities of allocating time and like balance are something that hopefully I've learned over a period of time. I do reserve the right to have fun and fortunately, you know, what I do during the day is a lot of fun, but no I have family, I have hobbies, and I have to be certain that with myself that I dedicate some time to does things and make those a priority as well.
