My name is Eric Deckers and I'm a professional writer. I own a content marketing agency, which means I ghost write blog articles for other companies. So basically, what we do is to help companies be found online more easily. And once they're found and they're potential customers are reading about them on their website and on their blog, we want them to sound like experts. We want them to be able to lay out all of their knowledge and all of their information. And in doing that, they can persuade customers to buy through education rather than a bunch of marketing speak and trying to trick people into buying. I have a little bit an unusual day. Since I own my own business and it's just me and I work out of the house or I work out of one of my favorite coffee shops, a busy day will start at about 10:00 a.m. I'll write, and that's all I'm really doing, is writing. If I'm not writing, I'm researching or I'm interviewing a client for an article that I'll be working on in a week or two. And then I end up back home, take a break, spend some time with my family. And then around 9:00 or 10:00 p.m., I'm back in front of the computer. Maybe I'm working on some personal branding because I also like to do some public speaking and I need to promote that. And then I'm in bed by 2:00 or 3:00. As the deadline is approaching, I start writing those articles, usually eight per month, and I just churn out article after article. It might be a question about how can irregular business travelers travel like road warriors for one client, or what's the difference between mystery shopping and secret surveys might be another question. And so I work up that article. It's gonna be between 500 and 800 words. It takes me about an hour and a half to two hours to get a completed article where it's fully polished and I'm happy with it. And then I publish it on the client's blog for them. So I just do that over and over. So that's the typical client engagement and I've got six or seven clients that I just do that for every month. Well, on the side, I will help people write books, so I essentially ghost author different books for different people. I always make sure I get creative credit, so I'm actually the with on the cover. But for fun, I write newspaper humor columns and, occasionally, radio plays and stage plays and I'm working on a novel as well.
