>> My name is Colleen O'Brien [assumed spelling], and I'm a standards and certification project engineer at the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Well, ASME publishes standards and construction codes for elevators and escalators to power plants and piping. Well, I get to work early. I usually get in around 8:00 in the morning. And my day consists of corresponding with the people who make up our committees, which are the industry experts who provide us with the little technologies that we eventually use to publish in our books, which are used for the construction and maintenance of elevators and escalators. And my responsibility is to be the communication between the industry experts and then the editors of our books. So it's mainly technical writing that I'm involved with. And day-to-day, I'm corresponding with those experts, as well as the people who use our books. Responding to technical inquiries about the codes and the way they're applied. One aspect of what I do is also work with the International Standards Organization, and my responsibility is to coordinate the US position on international codes. Each country gets a vote, and it's my responsibility for determining what the US position is on those, to make sure that our interests are represented in the international spectrum.
